The Metalliferous Hills, sited in the northern part of Maremma extended only within the province of Grosseto, take a wide area of Tuscany and slope down to the Tyrrhenian coast of the Gulf of Follonica.
This suggestive corner of Maremma presents itself with a succession of slight slopes, sometimes covered with woods, sometimes planted with olive trees and grapes, sometimes with small fascinating villages.
The territory has got a very ancient history, with its Etruscan settlements, Medieval Castles entrenched on hills, beautiful monuments, rocks and mineral ores exploited during the centuries. The Metalliferous Hills identify itself with a life style based on the respect for the environment, culture, history and tradition.
Every village, thanks also to a proud sense of identity and belonging of the people of Maremma, was able to preserve its own ancient history, the suggestive traditions, the slow rhythms of the past times, the strong tastes of the kitchen dishes… and it’s still possible to smell the typical Mediterranean woods.
Thanks to a mild climate, it’s possible to visit this beautiful area in every period of the year.
